Two little girls in Colorado Springs got their birthday wish, their daddy. Sgt. Matthew Richie hasn't seen his daughters in seven months. He's been stationed in Afghanistan. This weekend he's home to celebrate his daughters birthday, one-year-old Peyton and three-year -old Taylor. Their actual birthdays are two weeks apart.
"Being over there, knowing that you have something to come home to is definitely more appreciative when you're gone for a long time", said Sgt. Matthew Richie.
After the initial shock it was time to blow out the candles. It was followed by cake painting, fun games, and of course lots of presents.
Lindsey Fuquo said she's glad the girls were able to share this experience with their father.
"It's a great feeling, especially having the girls so excited to see him. It's a great feeling to know he's home and out of danger right now", said Lindsey Fuqua.
And although they may never remember this day, the family is hoping they never forget this moment.
"When they get older they can look back and be proud that their dad did this and understand why he was gone", said Tiffany Brickell.
