The current owner of Buckskin Joe's is offering some of the details behind the decision to sell the popular southern Colorado tourist attraction.
Greg Tabuteau says, "There was a gentleman that came along and he really, really likes the old west and made us an offer we felt we better take." That buyer wants to remain anonymous.
To realize the town was going to be moved and rebuilt at another location is one of the things Tabuteau considers hard about the sale. The other difficult consideration according to Tabuteau is his dedicated long time employees. "Knowing that it is coming to an end for them is hard to realize."
The business still operates with a profit, but they are shrinking. Tabuteau has owned the business for 25 of its 52 years in Colorado. He says compared to the 1980's and 1990's the number of visitors has dropped by nearly half. With that in mind he decided to except the offer and sell.
The last day for Buckskin Joe's is September 12th.
