It's a cold one out there. Temperatures today will be some of the coldest we've seen since the beginning of April. We're talking about staying in the 20s and 30s for most areas. Plus, the winds are an issue. With gusts to 40 mph, the wind chill will stay in the teens and 20s. Some locations will continue with single digit wind chills all day.
Snow showers are still possible this afternoon, especially for higher elevations and SW El Paso County. Should you see one of these showers, don't be surprised if it leaves a dusting in it's wake. By tonight, a lot of the showers come to an end, but the cold continues. A Freeze Warning is in effect for all areas tonight from midnight through 8 AM. So cover any of those flowers that you planted for mom on Mother's Day.
The warm up won't start until Wednesday. We have to wait for an area of high pressure to get closer before any improvement happens to our weather. By Wednesday we should at least be getting out of the 20s and 30s and into the 50s. If we get through the beginning of the week, the weekend is holding on to some nice weather which we will hopefully get to experience. Right now we're looking at highs this weekend in the 60s and 70s.
Hope you're staying warm... Meteorologist Valerie Abati
