Smartphone user spells "Android" to win competition

Like a lot of teenagers 13-year old Adnan Syed has a smartphone. An Android in fact. So Tuesday afternoon at a school district spelling bee in Pueblo, Syed breezed through the final word of the competition.

"Android, A-N-D-R-O-I-D, Android." With that word Syed became the champion of the 35th Annual Pueblo City Schools Spelling Bee.

"I guess you could say I figured out how to spell it because I have an Android phone," said Syed as he smiled.

Syed, an 8th grader at Cesar Chavez Academy, will now compete in the state spelling bee competition in Denver on March 19.
