Small plane lands on I-80 near Reno

A pilot has successfully landed his ailing single-engine plane on Interstate 80 a few miles east of Reno.
Nevada State Trooper Chuck Allen says the plane, carrying the pilot and two passengers, apparently experienced some mechanical difficultly before setting down on the highway's westbound lanes after 10 a.m. PST. No injuries were reported.
Allen says it rolled to a stop about 100 feet from the Sparks Boulevard exit in east Sparks. He says a detour off the interstate has been set up around the plane until federal investigators arrive.
He says it appears that the only damage was to the plane's tail.
