A small plane crashed into Ridgway Reservoir in southwestern Colorado Saturday afternoon, the FAA confirms. The fate of the plane's occupants is not yet known.
Ian Gregor, Public Affairs Manager for the Federal Aviation Administration, confirmed a single-engine Socata TBM700 crashed into the reservoir around 1:50 p.m. Saturday. The cause for the crash is not known.
The plane, registered to a corporation in Alabama, was en route from Bartlesville, Oklahoma to Montrose, Colorado when it went down into the reservoir near the town of Ridgway, about halfway between Montrose and Ouray in Ouray County.
Gregor said a Ouray County deputy on-scene reported seeing debris, but no sign of the occupants.
