Small child drowns on south side of Canon City

Fremont County deputies are investigating the drowning of a four-year-old Canon City boy.
Deputies were called to the 1300 block of S. 12th St in Lincoln Park, on the south side of Canon City where the boy had reportedly been playing with a number of other children in a large above-ground swimming pool in the back yard of a private residence day care. Authorities say the day care provider heard the children yelling and ran to the pool as the other children were pulling the victim from the pool.
Emergency officials attempted CPR while an ambulance shuttled the boy to the St. Thomas More Hospital in Canon City. Unfortunately, their attempts to revive the boy were unsuccessful.
The investigation is being conducted by the Combined Investigations Response Team.
