Well, it started off as a really nice looking Wednesday. But now the clouds are back and they're increasing... especially in higher elevations and to the north. With the clouds we could see a few spotty showers this afternoon but most of us stay dry. Temperatures won't climb far this afternoon, but we'll get a bit warmer than the past few days as winds stay out of the north. Expect highs in the 50s and 60s.
At the surface, high pressure dominates. This wants to bring us the warmer temperatures and sunshine. However, the upper atmosphere is also going to affect us. The jet stream will run right over Colorado from now through Friday. So unfortunately this means we won't clear out completely. In fact, we'll keep a few spotty showers in the forecast through tomorrow.
By Friday and into the weekend is when we really start to experience the warmup. Highs will climb into the 60s and 70s Friday and Saturday. Many areas will even be approaching, if not even in, the 80s for Sunday. And just for planning purposes, Sunday will be the nicer day with more sunshine too.
The warm and sunny weather continues into next week with highs staying in the 70s and 80s through at least Tuesday.
Enjoy the slow warm up... Meteorologist Valerie Abati
