Slow season slices hours

Hotel workers across Colorado Springs are seeing a dip in hours thanks to the slow winter travel season.

Those with the Convention and Visitor's Bureau report that multiple hotels have dropped hours for employees including the Broadmoor.

Since the Springs is considered a seasonal destination it can be tough for employees during the winter months.

"You're going to see a lot more people in the area, May through September. So really just being a season destination that means more seasonal jobs when there's more people, and obviously having not as many jobs and hours when it's not quite as crowded here in the region," said Director of Communications, Chelsey Murphy.

Murphy added they did see a rise in tourism last year and are hopeful it can carry into 2014 through the busy and slow seasons.
