The mother of a 12-year-old girl found dead last week had tried to break up a relationship between her and an 18-year-old man now charged with having a sexual relationship with the girl.

The man, Robert Laurencio Montoya, is not names as a suspect in Kayleah Wilson's death.

Court documents released Wednesday say Montoya had been investigated in February for looking into windows at Brentwood Middle School, where Kayleah Wilson had been a sixth-grader.

The incident happened about a month after April Wilson told Montoya and Kayleah to end their relationship.

Police say the charge against Montoya is "separate and distinct" from Kayleah's homicide investigation.

Police say they're looking at a range of individuals as part of the investigation.
