Sky Sox to honor first responders with special uniforms, pregame ceremony

The Colorado Springs Sky Sox will pay tribute to Colorado Springs fire and police personnel with special uniforms and a ceremony prior to first pitch at their home game at Security Service Field on Saturday, July 28.

The specialized jersey design features a background of fire and silhouettes of a firefighter and policeman and is meant to recognize the efforts of local first responders during the Waldo Canyon Fire.  Colorado Springs Fire Department Chief Rich Brown, Police Chief Pete Carey, and Mayor Steve Bach will be recognized and will take part in the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game.

"Our players, fans and the entire Sky Sox family are honored to pay tribute to our local heroes for not only the heroics they showed during the Waldo Canyon Fire but also for what they do day-in and day-out to make Colorado Springs one of the best communities in America", said Sky Sox President & General Manager Tony Ensor in a media release. "Although there is no way to truly repay them for all that they do for our community we hope that this day of tribute will create a lasting memory for these brave men, women and their families."
