Matt Shoemaker tossed seven strong innings to help lead the Salt Lake Bees to a 10-1 win over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox on Sunday afternoon. Shoemaker (4-8) allowed just one run on two hits and struck out a season high ten batters, as the Bees win their fourth consecutive game. All ten runs for Salt Lake were driven in on two out hits. The Bees trailed 1-0 in the fourth with runners at first and second with two out when Brad Hawpe tied the game with an RBI single. After Trent Oeltjen walked to load the bases, Andrew Romine put Salt Lake in front with a two run single to right. Roberto Lopez followed with a run scoring single and Luke Carlin capped off the inning with a two run single.
In the fifth inning, the Bees had a runner at first with two out when Oeltjen, Romine and Lopez put together back-to-back-to-back RBI triples to make it 9-1. Hawpe closed out the scoring with an RBI single in the sixth. Romine led Salt Lake with three hits and three runs batted in, while Lopez and Hawpe added two hits and two RBI each. Fernando Cabrera closed out the game for the Bees by pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth inning.
