Sky Sox get big road win

Behind an excellent outing from LHP Chris Capuano (1-0), the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (44-57) defeated the Nashville Sounds (53-50), 5-2, on Monday night at Herschel Greer Stadium.

Capuano struck out 11 batters in seven innings of work, while allowing just two runs on four hits.

The Sky Sox took the early lead thanks to RBI singles from Tim Smalling and Dustin Garneau in the third and fourth innings. Smalling collected a game-high three hits during the game.

Capuano was leading the Sox toward their second consecutive shutout before he allowed back-to-back solo homers to lead off the bottom of the seventh to Matt Clark and Hector Gomez to tie the game.

However, the Sky Sox immediately retook the lead, 5-2, off of RHP Johnnie Lowe (1-4) thanks to an RBI-single from Angelys Nina and a two-run single from Garneau in the next at-bat.

RHP Dan Houston came into the game to pick up his first save of the season thanks to two scoreless innings. He struck out three while allowing just two hits.

RHP Donovan Hand started the game for the Sounds and tossed four innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits.

The Sky Sox will take on the Sounds at 6:05 p.m. (MT) Tuesday night when LH Brian Burres (1-3, 6.92) takes on Sounds' RH Michael Blazek (1-4, 4.70).
