Colorado Springs scored early and often, as the Sky Sox rolled to a 12-1 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Friday night. Colorado Springs strung together four consecutive two-run innings to open up an 8-1 lead, as all nine members of the Sky Sox starting lineup had at least one hit. Matt Shoemaker (0-1) took the loss in his Triple-A debut as he allowed six runs on 11 hits in just three and one-third innings with three strikeouts and one walk.
Offensively, the Bees managed only six hits and their only run was unearned as Peter Bourjos was hit by a pitch, took second on an errant pickoff throw by Colorado Springs pitcher Esmil Rogers and scored on a single to center by Luis Figueroa. Michael Ryan led Salt Lake with two hits, including a double.
