Silver Key needs volunteer drivers

Silver Key Senior Services has expanded Ft. Carson Army Post rides, for veterans and their dependents ages 60 and older, by adding two more dedicated routes to the schedule because of increased demand. Each Monday, beginning on May 10, 2010, Silver Key will offer morning or afternoon round-trip travel to and from the Mountain Post. A valid military ID will be required for all riders entering Ft. Carson.

• Morning Route: 9:00 a.m. pick-up / 11:00 a.m. return
• Afternoon Route: 1:00 p.m. pick-up / 3:00 p.m. return
• New Passengers Welcome: In addition to essential daily transportation needs, Silver Key is now scheduling recreational trips for day, night and weekend events for all riders aged 60 and older. Regardless of the purpose for transportation, a lead time of three working days is required for transportation reservations. First-time passengers should allow 5 working days lead time in order to complete the required phone-registration process prior to making reservations.
• For Reservations: Call 719-884-2380, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday- Friday.

Volunteer drivers are in great demand. Volunteer drivers at Silver Key often begin as "temporary" drivers and find an immediate connection to those they assist, resulting in an amazing and rewarding volunteer experience. A good driving record, a regular driver's license and four hours is all that's necessary to join the dedicated volunteers who drive the Silver Key vehicles.
