With state education funding in a pinch, locals are looking for ways to help out. On Saturday, shred-a-thons across the state are benefiting Colorado Community Colleges.
This was the first year for this type of fundraiser for the Colorado Community College System Foundation and the local community colleges. Teams held the shred-a-thons in Pueblo, Aurora, Denver, and Lakewood. Organizers say next year's fundraiser is already being planned; including for new locations, like Colorado Springs.
The idea is simple; people bring by their papers to be shredded and then hopefully make a donation too.
They hope these donations will help ease the burden on local education budgets; it's going towards scholarships and general classroom funds.
