Right around closing time at Copperhead Road Nightclub on Academy Boulevard, a heated argument was taking place two men in the parking lot. 22 year old, Tyler Stringer, a Security Policeman at Peterson Air Force Base, was one of the two men and attempted to retrieve a handgun from his vehicle. Stringer alleged the semi-auto pistol discharged accidentally into the pavement. Stringer was detained by Copperhead Road contracted security personnel until Colorado Springs Police officers secured the scene. Stringer was later tested and found to be under the influence of alcohol while handling a fire arm which violates state statutes. No injuries were sustained by anyone involved in the argument and police will continue to investigate.
