Shooting overnight could be related to theft case

A shooting overnight may be related to a burglary that happened minutes earlier.
Police said they were called at 1 a.m. Sunday to Discount Exhaust Works on South Nevada Ave., on a report of a man that was siphoning gas from vehicles at the business. They gave the officers a description of the man and the car they believed he was driving.
About 15 minutes later, police were called to a location less than a mile away on Rice Drive, on reports there was a man there that had been shot. When officers arrived on the scene they found the injured man and vehicle he was in matched the description in the earlier gas theft incident.
He was taken to Memorial Hospital with a gun shot wound to the upper torso. His wounds are serious, but not believed to be life-threatening,
Lt. Pat Rigdon says that police are investigating the case and have not made any arrests. They believe the shooting victim could be the gas thief, but they don't know when and where he was shot, or who shot him.
