Shooting in Colorado Springs leaves two dead

Two people are dead after a shooting late Saturday night near the intersection of Circle Drive and Platte Avenue in Colorado Springs.

Police were called to the Tower Plaza Shopping Center around 10:45 p.m. and found an adult man and woman with gunshot wounds in an alley behind the Bambino's Pizza restaurant. Both were pronounced dead on scene. The coroner's office has yet to rule the case a homicide, autopsies will be performed in the coming days.

As of early Sunday morning police said they weren't able to provide information about possible suspects.

"No suspects are in custody and we have not released any descriptions of any suspects at this time," explained Larry Herbert, a spokesperson for the Colorado Springs Police Department. "It's still early in the investigation and they need to make sure that all descriptions are accurate."

If the case is ruled a homicide the deaths will be the 20th and 21st homicides in Colorado Springs in 2013.

The identities of the victims will not be released until all their family members have been notified.

The Tower Plaza Shopping Center will be closed until the investigation is completed, that could take most of Sunday.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 719-444-7000 or Pikes Peak Area Crime Stoppers at 719-634-STOP.
