Shooter identified as apartment complex employee

An apartment complex's maintenance man is being questioned by police after a shooting in Colorado Springs Saturday afternoon. It happened just before 12:30 at the Mayfair Apartment complex across the street from Acacia Park. Police say two men, 55 year old Kenneth Potter the building maintenance man and part time security guard, and a 36 year old, were fighting in the hallway of the building when Potter pulled out a handgun and opened fire. "The victim was transported to the hospital with life threatening injuries." explains Sgt. Dennis Dougan with CSPD, "He was shot once in the chest."

It's still unclear if the victim lived at the Mayfair apartments. He is listed in critical but stable condition. The victim has been identified, but his identity is being withheld pending notification of family. Potter has not been charged as of yet. The El Paso County District Attorney's Office will review the case.
