Shelter extends hours

The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region has lengthened its hours in hopes of helping more people retrieve their lost pets.

Effective November 1, hours will be extended to 8 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. during the winter months and 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. during the summer months. Adoption will be available 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

The over-night drop boxes will close on November 1.  In the event of an emergency, such as an injured or aggressive animal, residents should contact Animal Control at 719 473-1741.

More than 23,000 animals pass through the shelter each year.
