A man Colorado Springs Police describe as a "sexually violent predator" is no longer in custody.
Daniel Lawrence Murphy is living in Colorado Springs after being released from the Colorado Department of Corrections.
According to Colorado Springs Police, Murphy is a sex offender whose past behavior has led him to be labeled by a judge in a court order as a "sexually violent predator."
Police report Murphy's history of crimes includes a conviction for sexual abuse in 2000 in Suffolk County, New York.
He was convicted of harassment, forcible touching, and failing to register as a sex
offender in New York and of failing to register as a sex offender in Colorado.
Murphy is registered as a sex offender and is homeless in the area of America the Beautiful Park, 126 Cimino Drive.
He is described as being a white male who is 38 years old, 5'5" tall, who weighs 185 pounds. Murphy has brown hair and hazel eyes.
Police say Murphy is one of ten "sexually violent predators" currently registered with the Colorado Springs Police Department who reside in the community.
