Several injured by lightning strikes in northern Colorado

At least three people are injured after lightning strikes in Wellington.

The Larimer County Sheriff's Office confirms Wellington Fire and medical units are responding to Grant Family Farm on reports of three to four people injured by lightning.

The office didn't have details on the severity of injuries.

A dense thunderstorm is dropping heavy rain on the mountains west of Fort Collins, causing flash flooding concerns in the High Park and Fern Lake fire burn areas.

The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning in the mountains, as a large storm is dumping heavy rain over Rocky Mountain National Park and north to the Poudre Canyon. More than 1 1/2 inches of rain has fallen in some areas, according to NWS.

The warning is in effect through 4:30 p.m. Colorado Climate Center radar shows a large swath of heavy rain slowly moving westward over the area. Slides and debris are expected in Poudre and Rist canyons.

Anyone who encounters flooding should move to higher ground and avoid crossing moving water as it washes over roads.
