Serious accident on Lake Ave sends 4 to hospitals

This morning's serious accident on westbound Lake Ave at the Highway 115 overpass has sent three children and their father to local hospitals. There was one man age 35 who was driving his three passengers, all girls aged 11, 15 and 16 years old that was involved in a head on collision with another vehicle. It appears that none of the girls were wearing seat-belts and were ejected from the car upon impact.

The 16 year old was pinned under a vehicle and seriously burned. She is now being transported to Denver general for treatment for serious burns.  All three girls are in critical condition and the man is in serious condition.

The Colorado Springs Police Department's Major Accidents Unit is on scene conducting an investigation of the crash. Westbound Lake Ave continues to be closed at this time.
