Senate backs rolling back late fees for trailers

Colorado lawmakers are moving to roll back late registration fees for trailers.
People who register trailers late would have to pay a flat $10 late charge under an amended bill passed by the Senate on Tuesday. That's the same late fee trailer owners paid before lawmakers raised all registration and late fees last year to bring in more money for bridge and road repairs.
Late fees were raised to $25 a month for up to four months for cars and trucks as well as trailers last year. Lawmakers now say it was a mistake to include non-motorized trailers, some of which are just used seasonally. All late fees are now mandatory but the Senate also passed a measure to come up with rules for when clerks would be allowed to waive them.
Both bills now go back to the House.
