This weekend, the second dog mauling took place in less than a week in Colorado Springs. Dog owner Angie Hackl said she was walking her 13-pound Papillon when a pit bull walked over, clamped her in his jaws, and refused to let go for 5 to 10 minutes. Hackl tried surgery, but ultimately decided her small dog had to be put to sleep. Her dog attack follows one last week where a baby Weimaraner was badly hurt also by pit bulls at the Bear Creek Dog Park. Hackl is now telling other dog owners in the area to watch out. "Always be aware of the dog you're running into," Hackl said. "Be aware of who's handling the dog. Had I thought of all those things I would have done things differently."
Hackl is asking the public to identify the person walking the dangerous pit bull which she describes as white and gray. She believes the owner was a white female in her 20's or 30's who may have been wearing a skirt and had a long brown ponytail that day. She says the owner had a long tattoo up one leg.
