A local Boy Scout received a Spirit of the Springs Award for heroic actions last spring that may have saved the life of his grandmother.
Jordan Evans was walking in Fountain Creek Regional Park last May with his grandmother and cousin when a tree toppled and landed on the grandmother.
Jordan was able to call 911 and later use his shirt to help stop the bleeding. He and his cousin were then able to free her. Jordan then carried her a half mile to rescue workers.
Jordan was chosen by the National Office of the Boy Scouts of America for a five-day trip to Washington DC, along with 7 other Scouts chosen for their good deeds. He'll tour the Pentagon, the Supreme Court, the Capitol and the White House, and meet with President Obama.
