Teachers go through strict background checks before they can work with kids, but what about police officers who work in local schools?

School resource officers are regular police officers who apply for positions at schools. There is then a review process before their bosses and also school leaders who decide if they are a good fit. Colorado Springs police go through an extensive background check before they are ever hired onto the force.

Now Josh Carrier, a resource officer at a local middle school has been arrested for buying child porn. It raises questions over whether there needs to be more screening. Police Spokesman, Sergeant Darrin Abbink says, "Whenever we see something like this we always take a look at our processes and decide are we doing the right things, do we need to do more."
