School raises money to honor fallen Major

Stetson Elementary School is collecting money to honor Major Phil Ambard. He was killed on April 27 while serving with the Air Force in Afghanistan. Ambard's wife is a teacher at Stetson and Major Ambard was a regular visitor to the school.

Donations collected by the PTA will be used to buy and install a scoreboard at the school's field to recognize Major Ambard.

Donations for the scoreboard may be mailed to Stetson Elementary labeled

Services for Major Phil Ambard will be held at the Air Force Academy Thursday, May 5. A public viewing and celebration of his life will be led by the family at 11:45 a.m. The memorial service will begin at 12:30 p.m and will be held at the Cadet Protestant Chapel with a graveside service immediately following at the Academy Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
