Scanning for Facebook friends

Just in case it was taking too long to create new friends on Facebook, there's a new app to help speed things up. Instant Friend is available for the Android market and allows the user to scan a friend's phone to become Facebook friends.
But there's a catch, both phones must to have the program already installed in order for it to work. So, is it really any faster?
