Santana smacks homer to end Bergman's streak, RedHawks top Sky Sox, 1-0

RHP Christian Bergman was excellent once again for the Sky Sox, but RedHawks' RHP Jake Buchanan was just a little bit better to lead OKC to their second consecutive win over the Sox, 1-0, and pick up the series split Tuesday.

Bergman, who brought a 16.1 scoreless inning streak into the game, extended his streak all the way to 21.2 innings, before Domingo Santana hit his second homer in as many days during the sixth inning to give the RedHawks all the run support they would need.

Buchanan matched Bergman's starting effort with his own brilliance by tossing 7.2 shutout frames, allowing just two hits and two walks, while punching out four. Buchanan, Jason Stoffel (0.1 IP), and Josh Fields (1.0 IP) combined to throw a three-hit shutout against the Sox.

Bergman finished with six innings pitched, allowing just one run on three hits, while punching out five and walking one. In his past five starts, Bergman has an ERA of 1.29 (35 ip, 5 er) with 21 punchouts and seven walks.

The Sky Sox put two men on base twice (second and eighth innings), but weren't able to capitalize on the opportunity either time.

LF Kyle Parker, 1B Ben Paulsen and DH Rafael Ynoa were the only three Sky Sox with hits on the day. Parker extended his hitting streak to 10 games. He is hitting .364 during the streak.

Santana, Adron Chambers and Enrique Hernandez were the lone RedHawks to record a hit.

RHP Chad Bettis came in relief of Bergman and pitched two perfect innings with one strikeout to lower his season ERA to 2.00.

The Sky Sox will head into the off-day Wednesday before they return home on Thursday to open a four-game series against New Orleans. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. LH Christian Friedrich (1-3, 6.81) will toe the rubber against New Orleans' RH Jay Rogers (1-1, 6.57).

Sox Notes

· Christian Bergman still has a 16.0 scoreless streak at Security Service Field.
