Meghan Ward of Sand Creek High School is this week's Loaf ‘N Jug Aquafina Athlete of the Week.
Meghan is a junior co-captain on the Scorpions girls soccer team. She plays all over the field but is mainly a holding midfielder or sweeper.
And Meghan is actually known as "Dunga" by many of her close friends. She's nicknamed after her favorite Brazilian soccer player.
Today the humble 17-year old told us, it's nice to get a little recognition.
"It feels great for me because a lot of times, the position I play doesn't get a lot of recognition," said Meghan. "So it's really nice to know that people notice how much work I put into things. It's also great because it gives my school publicity and we haven't gotten that in a while."
Meghan hopes to play soccer at San Diego Christian College where she wants to major in psychology or counseling.
She holds a 4.0 GPA, is a member of student council, and volunteers at various organizations. "Dunga" can truly do it all.
