A federal judge has ruled gay marriages should resume in California, but not quite yet.

Supporters of same sex marriage cheered in San Francisco today where Judge Vaughn Walker ruled the marriages should resume.

He gave opponents until August 18th to get a ruling from the 9th Circuit Court of appeals. The marriages are on hold until then, maybe longer depending on how the court rules.

Last week Vaughn struck down California's voter approved ban on gay marriages, but he held off on deciding whether gay marriages should resume.
