Colorado State Troopers are investigating a pair of overnight crashes involving the same cow.
The accidents happened Friday evening on Colorado Highway 96 in Kiowa County.

The first car, driven by Mary Elkins, 21 hit the cow when it came out into the road. A short while later Gus Austin, 35 rolled his car when he collided with the cow as it was lying in the roadway.

Neither Elkins nor her passenger were wearing seatbelts. They were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

Austin and his passenger were wearing seatbelts and walked away from the accident with minor injuries. Troopers say alcohol is not a factor in either crash.
