Saints march past Colts, adding to Mardi Gras atmosphere in Big Easy

New Orleans Saints fans won't have to wear paper bags over their heads for a long time as they did in the bad old days. The Saints, in their first Super Bowl, beat the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 Sunday.
And that adds some incentive to the Mardi Gras celebrations in New Orleans this week. The parades leading up to Fat Tuesday on Feb. 16 had already begun as the Saints, in their first Super Bowl, rallied with 15 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. It triggered dancing in the streets as all of New Orleans was transformed into one big Bourbon Street.
Saints QB Drew Brees controlled the game and was named MVP. Brees completed 32 of 39 passes for 288 yards and two TDs, tying Tom Brady's Super Bowl record for completions.
Holding the Super Bowl trophy, Brees said the Saints victory was "destiny" and added: "We knew we had an entire city and maybe an entire country behind us."
