Ryan Lochte to miss Duel in the Pool with injury

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Olympian Ryan Lochte will miss next month's Duel in the Pool, leaving the U.S. without its top male swimmer for the meet against a team of European all-stars.

Lochte tore a ligament and sprained another in his left knee on Nov. 3 after an excited teenage girl ran at him and the two fell over in Gainesville, Fla.

USA Swimming said Tuesday that national team members Tom Shields and Michael Weiss have been added to the U.S. roster for the meet on Dec. 20-21 in Glasgow, Scotland.

On the women's side, Kathleen Baker will replace Sarah Denninghoff.

The U.S. is undefeated in the 5-year-old event.
