Runaway kids reported missing in Westminster

Westminster police are going door-to-door looking for two runaway kids who did not return home.

Andrew Vigil, 9, and his sister, Diamond Vigil, 10, were last seen in a neighborhood near West 73rd Avenue and Bryant Street at about 1:00 a.m. Friday.

Police say three children had an argument with their mother July 4 about watching fireworks and ultimately ran away. The oldest child, a 12-year-old, returned home at about midnight.

The parents did not report the kids missing. Police learned the children were still missing while handling a report for a stolen bicycle. Police say the person reporting the bike theft indicated the Vigil kids may be responsible for taking the bike.

Andrew and Diamond often use public transportation by themselves to travel throughout the metro area. The regularly travel to family member's homes in Aurora and Denver. They often go to a pool at West 44th Avenue and Knox.

Adams County Social Services is assisting the police department.

Andrew is approximately 4-foot-7 to 4-foot-9 and weighs 90 pounds. He has brown hair in a Mohawk with brown eyes.

Diamond is 4-foot-7 to 4-foot-9 and weighs 80 pounds. She has blond hair (hair color in photo is not current) with brown eyes. She is wearing a purple shirt, blue jean shorts and white shoes that light up.

If you have information on the whereabouts of the missing children, you are asked to call Westminster Police.
