Royal Gorge Fire at 38-hundred acres

The fire at the Royal Gorge west of Canon City is still burning tonight.

Fire officials say that the fire is believed to have burned more than 38-hundred acres and is threatening the Canon City Water Treatment Plant.

There are evacuations in the area and those boundaries are County Rd. 3 to the west, south of Highway 50 and east of the treatment plant located at Highway 50 and Tunnel Dr.
These evacuations include the Tunnel Drive area. Several buildings at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, but right now it appears the bridge itself is "ok".

Large animals can be taken to Pathfinder Regional Park located on Highway 115 between Florence and Canon City. Right now there have been no injuries reported. (Photo: Dana Dahl-Breske)
