SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Jhoulys Chacin, relaxed in the knowledge that he's assured a spot in the Colorado rotation, threw two hitless innings in his spring debut and the Rockies went on to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-5 on Monday.
Chacin, 9-11 with a 3.28 ERA for the Rockies last season, faced six batters. The lone Arizona hitter to get on base against the 23-year-old right-hander was Justin Upton, who reached on shortstop Troy Tulowitzki's throwing error and was promptly picked off.
Esmil Rogers followed Chacin and gave up a hit in two scoreless innings. Armando Galarraga gave up two runs, one earned, for Arizona. Barry Enright followed, giving up a hit in two scoreless innings.
