Roethlisberger apologizes, says he won't appeal suspension

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger says he won't appeal the six-game suspension given him for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Saying he is disappointed with himself, Roethlisberger apologized Monday to his teammates and fans for his behavior last month in a Georgia bar, where a 20-year-old college student accused him of sexual assault.

In a short statement released by the team, Roethlisberger promised he will not put himself in such a situation again. In his first comments since being suspended Wednesday by commissioner Roger Goodell, Roethlisberger said that while he did not commit a crime, he fell short of the values instilled in him by his family.

He also said it will be "devastating" to miss games.
