Rodeo bull runs loose in Larimer County

Larimer County authorities chased and tranquilized a rodeo bull that had been running loose for five hours.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Eloise Campanella says the bull escaped Friday morning from a pasture northeast of Loveland and wandered several miles to southeast Fort Collins.

An automated phone notification system warned area residents to stay in their homes while the bull on the loose.

Campanella says wildlife officers tranquilized the bull four times before it was calm enough to handle.

No one was hurt and the bull appeared unharmed. The animal is part of rodeo bucking stock.

The bull's owner faces possible misdemeanor charges of having an animal at large and public nuisance.
