Colorado and Wyoming are waking up to an icy, snowy fall morning that has closed highways and left drivers facing treacherous conditions. Interstate 25 in parts of northern Colorado and southern Wyoming were closed Saturday morning. Interstate 70 was closed to westbound traffic at the Eisenhower Tunnel.
The cities of Denver and Thornton were placed on accident alert. Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson says there were more than two dozen accidents in metro Denver Saturday morning.
Snow is expected to continue in Denver through Saturday night, when the Colorado Rockies play the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 3 of the National League playoffs. There were no plans to cancel the game, even though temperatures were expected to be in the 20s at first pitch and get colder from there.
