A Rocky Ford couple is recovering after being shot in their store on Saturday afternoon. "At approximately 4 p.m. our dispatch center received a 911 call of a possible shooting at La Nortena clothing store." explains Rocky Ford Police Chief Frank Gallegos.
Investigators tell News First 5 two men, one white with medium length hair in his 20's and the other a Hispanic man with a mustache speaking broken English in his 40's got into a grey or silver sedan with two others and took off. "They then fled the scene heading east of Highway 50." says Gallegos.
It's a crime that's shocked the community. "It's a small community that's very tight knit. It's very out of the blue for something like this to happen in our city." says Gallegos. Thomas Egley Jr. runs a book store across the street from La Nortena. He's just recently opened and says he's very concerned about his safety. "It just freaked me out a little bit." he says, "That's something I've got to think about all the time. Now that this has happened it makes me think about it even more."
