SAN DIEGO (AP) - The NL West-leading San Diego Padres lost their 10th straight game, with Melvin Mora hitting a go-ahead single that sent the Colorado Rockies to a 4-2 win Sunday.
The Padres began the day with a two-game edge over San Francisco, which played a night game at Dodger Stadium.
Mora's tiebreaking hit in the seventh inning gave Colorado its 10th win in 14 games. The Rockies pulled within 4½ games of the reeling Padres.
San Diego's losing streak is its longest since a franchise record 13-game skid in May 1994. Only two teams in major league history have made the playoffs in a season that included a losing streak of at least 10 games.
