Rockies put Cook on DL

PITTSBURGH (AP) - The Colorado Rockies have put struggling pitcher Aaron Cook on the 15-day disabled list because of a toe injury.

The Rockies say Cook has turf toe on his right big toe.

Cook is 4-8 with a 5.34 ERA and has gotten hit hard in losing his last three starts. The right-hander is Colorado's career leader in victories.

Rockies manager Jim Tracy says Cook has not used the injury as an excuse for his pitching troubles. Cook will throw two bullpen sessions in Pittsburgh and then go to Double-A Tulsa for rehabilitation outings.

The Rockies recalled infielder Chris Nelson from Triple-A Colorado Springs on Thursday.
