Rockies place Chacin on 15-day DL

DENVER - The Colorado Rockies announced Monday that the club has rescinded the option to right-handed pitcher Jhoulys Chacin to Triple-A Colorado Springs and placed Chacin on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. His placement on the disabled list is retroactive to May 2.


Chacin, 24, began the season as a member of the Rockies starting rotation and went 0-3 with a 7.30 ERA (24.2 ip, 20 er) in five starts. Chacin has pitched in parts of four Major League seasons, all with Colorado since 2009, and is 20-29 with a 3.78 ERA (367.0 ip, 154 er), 174 walks and 323 strikeouts in 73 games/58 starts in his Major League career. Chacin led the Rockies in wins (11), innings pitched (194.0) and ERA (3.62) during the 2011 season.


The Rockies have a full 40-man roster.
