Rock Ledge Ranch gets wild 'n' wooly

The history of the Pikes Peak Region came to life for the 33rd season Saturday afternoon at Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site.
Colorado Springs' Rock Ledge Ranch provided sheep shearing, sheepdog herding demonstrations, and allowed crowds to experience traditional daily activities to celebrate the start of the summer season.
Families also watched as members of the Pikes Peak Weavers Guild showed the entire process that goes into turning wool into usable garments: weaving, skirting, carding, spinning, and wool dyeing.
The celebration served an additional purpose; the Ranch commemorated El Paso County's once thriving sheep industry. In the 1880s, the area boasted the largest sheep population in the entire state.
