He's one of the best baseball players ever, certainly the best defensive third baseman in history.
Brooks Robinson kicked around the dirt at Security Service Field Saturday for a good cause.
Robinson, and other former major leaguers, took part in the Heroes Classic Softball game. It raised over ten thousand dollars in one night, bringing the three year total to over 50 thousand dollars. The money is split between the Wounded Warrior Project, the Police Foundation, and the Fire Protective Foundation, and it's a cause close to home for robinson.
"My dad was a fireman for 30-something years," said Robinson. "And I know how those guys, the police, and the wounded warriors, and the fireman, they do a wonderful job and they deserve everyone's support that is here. But I've had a good time, so it's great.">
The police won the game 9-7 in extra innings, avenging their loss to fire last year. For the full interview with Brooks Robinson head to facebook.com/koaa greg smith.
