A popular flavor from Pueblo County is heating up appetites in Colorado Springs. The Historic Rock Ledge Ranch hosted their first Chile Chili Festival this afternoon.

Farmers from Milberger Farms in Pueblo fired up the roasters and served up samples of three varieties of chile; the Pueblo Chile, Anaheim Chile and the Fresno Chile. Meanwhile, the folks from King's Chef Diner dished out samples from a fresh pot of their signature vegetarian green chili.

Farmer Shane Milberger says he enjoys sharing the popular pepper with new audiences. "People started showing up about 10:00 and they just keep coming in," Milberger said. "It's been real good, a great turnout, a lot of interesting people, a lot of questions."

Saturday's Chili Festival was part a whole weekend of activities at the ranch. They will host an old time baseball game on Monday. The Pueblo Chile and Frijoles Festival begins Friday, September 23.
