A blast of winter has Colorado Springs Police on accident alert. That means, if you're in an accident, there are no injuries, and you do not suspect alcohol or drugs, you can exchange information and report the accident to police within 72 hours.
Police did respond to a couple of accidents on I-25 and the Motor City curve. On the southbound side, police tell News First 5 a car was driving too fast for the conditions, slid into a bus, and rolled into the ditch. No one was hurt.
In the second accident, a woman in her 50s driving an SUV northbound near Cimarron rolled her vehicle off the road. Paramedics took her by ambulance to the hospital with what they describe as minor injuries. She had a small dog with her in the car. It was shaken up from the accident, but will go home with a relative while the owner recovers at the hospital.
Colorado State Patrol reports a handful of minor weather-related accidents in both Pueblo and El Paso Counties.
